MELT PILOT SPINNING PLANTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH BCF OR POY, FDY AND IDY PROCEDURES

MAINTECH VARIO SPINNING LINE

The Maintech Vario Spinning Line (MVS) of processing systems includes the following components: dosing unit for polymers, extrusion unit, spinning unit, drop chute with blower, drawing zone, sizing& conditioner unit, spooling and air-conditioning components for blowing air. MVS is a flexible, multifunctional compact spinning line for a large selection of the most diverse types of fibres, fibre concentrations and polymers.

The MVS is more than a research, development or pilot system. It takes all of the technological aspects of industrially used production lines into consideration. For those reasons, it has been equipped with components necessary for high-quality production lines. The arrangement of the four dual spinning drums will facilitate the manufacture of high-performance multi filament fibres that are oriented on production and made of partially oriented yarn (POY), fully drawn yarn (FDY) and industrial yarn (IDY). A second interchangeable module can significantly simplify spinning bulk continuous filament (BCF) yarns (carpet yarn among other products).

The primary design issue is the flexibility of the overall unitand its ability to produce various kinds of yarns according to the BCF or POY/FDY/IDY processes. The drawing field is the unit for the use of one, two, three or four dual spinning drums. For stepwise drawing, the drawing field can be moved forward or backward. IDY yarns of very high strength can be produced using all four dual spinning drums.

BCF yarns can be produced to industrial standards by using a second independent, whether moveable or fixed. The BCF component will be positioned for the production or development of BCF yarns.

The BCF unit uses all other components, in the same manner as for drawing field units, so that additional modifications or retrofitting are not necessary. For both types of processes, the quality of the yarns produced by these machines is compareable to industrially produced yarns. Yarns for both the textile and the technical markets can be produced using the MVS spinning system, in addition to BCF yarns for carpets, for example.

Additional MVS properties and advantages

The MVS system can be used in a temperature range from 200°C to 400°C, depending on the properties of the polymers used. The machine’s production capacity is around 150 t/a. The capacity can be adapted to the fibre concentration level and its requirements. The line will produce two independent fibres, each of one consisting of various threads. The godet speed can be increased to a maximum of 5000 m/min. Automated bobbin exchange and automation of the fibre waste collection system facilitate the operation of the line by a single operator. The bobbin collection is a manual process.

Well-known companies using brand names will supply the important software and hardware components, (such as the process control system, pumps and spooling units). For this reason, spare parts will be available over a long period of time.

It is possible to switch to other polymers and other concentration levels. The MVS is not limited to a single material or a specific process. The line equipment can be quickly adapted to the market requirements at affordable prices when the technical aspects of the process change.

The important heating godets have a heat control for multi-zone induction heating and controlled by a bus system. Consequently, the temperature tolerances on the godets are limited to a minimum. A central process controller automates the monitoring and control of all process parameters.
