Decades of tradition prove the high rating of this industrial location:

In 1924, the site was established under the name Vereinigten Glanzstoff-Fabriken AG as a production facility for viscose yarn products. In 1938, the production of viscose yarn for technical purposes started. This category of yarn was mainly used as a reinforcing material in tire bodies. In the 1950s, the fibre production with synthetic fibres such as polyester and polyamide. Since the 1970s and 1980s, the site has flourished due to the expansion of capacity and grew into the dominant European manufacturing plant for high-quality yarns for technical applications.

Over the decades, the plant has become the largest employer in the Bavarian Untermain region. The Industrie Centre Obernburg has been the core of development for the region’s economy and infrastructure.

During its 90-year history, the parent company has changed names several times, including names likeGlanzstoff, Akzo Nobel and Acordis, as has tthe site. Industrial Center Obernburg was chosen in 2003 as a neutral name. The reason for this most recent change to use Industrie Centre Obernburg (ICO) was the division of the Acordis Konzern’s holdings into separate businesses.

The divisions that had formed the former ICO site became legally independent companies. Main Site GmbH & Co. KGoperates the site and provides all the infrastructure services required for a technological production facility. In 2010, Mainsite GmbH & Co.KG reassigned the technical services to an independently operating subsidiary, MainTech Systems GmbH. This subsidiary has developed into an innovative systems construction and maintenance service company on the basis of its skills and understanding of technology.

Callista Private Equity acquired full ownership of the company in 2018 and continues to develop the company under the new MainTech Systems GmbH name.
